Copied
Prompted with an invitation to create and add an anthem to our nation’s canon, hundreds of Americans answered the call. Through lyric workshops and pairings with renowned coach-composers, the four-month project from Lincoln Center and Brooklyn Public Library called ‘Anthem to US’ culminated in the creation of a contemporary anthem. NBC News followed the first-of-its-kind contest since the beginning of the year, as more than a hundred selected participants were narrowed down to one winner, whose anthem “Let Them Fly” was performed live on one of the world’s biggest stages. NBC News’ Zinhle Essamuah reports on the project.Nov. 4, 2024
