2024 North Carolina Elections
In addition to voting in the presidential contest between Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Kamala Harris, voters in North Carolina will cast ballots for the state’s 14 congressional districts. There are also statewide contests for state government offices. The North Carolina gubernatorial race is between Democrat Josh Stein and Republican Mark Robinson. The contest is for an open seat because Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper is term-limited. The race was seen as competitive, but Robinson was plagued by a scandal over past comments he reportedly made on an online forum, giving Democrats an edge. The state is also a hotly contested presidential contest. The race for lieutenant governor in North Carolina is between Republican Hal Weatherman and Democrat Rachel Hunt. Independent Wayne Jones is also on the ballot. Only a handful of states elect the lieutenant governor separately from the governor, and North Carolina is one of them. The attorney general contest in North Carolina is between Republican Dan Bishop, who currently serves in the U.S. House, and Democrat Jeff Jackson. Voters here will also decide a ballot referendum.
